Mackenzie – Nansemond River ’17 {senior spokesmodel}

Posted on November 5, 2016

Get to know our senior models. Our 1st featured senior for the class of 2017 is Mackenzie, our first senior (ever) from Nansemond River High School, in Suffolk.

As with many of our seniors, we first photographed Mackenzie on the turf playing field hockey for the Warriors. We love shooting varsity sports, as well as photographing seniors. When we get a senior that is also an athlete, it’s the best of both worlds.

As a senior model, we had the opportunity to meet Mackenzie in the spring for her studio session. We found her great to work with and a blast to be around. It was nice to see how excited Mackenzie and Mary (mom) were for their outdoor session.

For Mackenzie’s outdoor senior session, we started off at the Pagoda/Oriental Gardens in Norfolk. The area is perfect for portraits. While we had a great time and captured some gorgeous images, it’s amazing how many people were there playing Pokémon Go. We counted over 50 people (young & old). Despite being surrounded by people with their heads down, staring at their phones, we had fun and no one got in our way. Once we finished in Norfolk, we headed to Virginia Beach for some beach/sunset photos off the Chesapeake Bay. As the sun set, we had an amazing sky and took some fantastic shots. A big thanks to Mackenzie and Mary for choosing us as their senior photographers.

I’ve posted a few photos from Makenzie’s session. Don’t forget to read her answers to a few questions we ask our senior reps. You might find out something you didn’t know and and don’t forget to leave a comment about her pictures.

my school: Nansemond River High School

my nickname/what my friends call me: Mackenzie

my favorite beverage: Sweet Tea

my favorite web sites are: YouTube and Netflix

my current favorite song is: Cold Water by Major Lazer ft. Justin Bieber

the person I would like to meet: Luke Bryan

the magazines that I secretly love are: Seventeen

the last meal I made was: Pizza (I love pizza, haha!)

my biggest accomplishment in high school so far: Being in the top 3 of my class of 315 students

my dream job is: Chemical Engineer (working in a lab) and coaching/refereeing field hockey on the side

an unusual talent that I have is: I love to organize (school supplies, groceries in the cart, anything!)

my favorite things in my closet are: For summer, definitely my denim halter top and my dresses, and for winter, my Columbia coats and head wraps.

the 2 most important things in a great friendship: Honesty and trustworthiness, for sure!

in 10 years I see myself: graduated from college, working a steady job, living in my own apartment, and hopefully engaged to be married.

i’m excited about having my senior portraits done by dan trevino because (shameless plug): The experience is unlike any other! it’s so much FUN with Dan and Penny, and to do this with my mom by my side is even more unforgettable! We look forward to every time we have a session with Dan!

if I were on a deserted island, the 2 things I would want with me are: My mom and my dog, Chloe. My mom is so smart, and she’s definitely my rock. I can do anything with her support! Chloe would keep me busy instead of worrying about being deserted on this island, haha! She’s definitely a girl’s best friend.

i’m most nervous about my senior year because: It’s a huge transition and a lot of overwhelming information all at once. I’m still a kid in high school, juggling schoolwork and sports, while trying to apply to colleges and scholarships as well. It’s a lot of pressure, and it’s very stressful.

the top 3 things i’m looking forward to for my senior year are: Playing varsity sports with my little sister, finishing my sport seasons with a BANG, and graduating from the school I’ve attended for the last 4 years with the same people (haha).

my most embarrassing moment: I had brand new cleats on in the locker room, and when I came out, 5 steps away from being outside, I slipped on the freshly waxed floor and fell on my butt! It did not feel good, haha.

senior year is such a big deal because: It’s the year where you really grow up. You’re not going to be “babied” by your parents and teachers anymore. Yes, it’s a fun year, but you also have to remember to be responsible when it comes to schoolwork and your priorities. It’s getting you ready to leave for college the next year.

3 things no one knows about me: I broke my nose when I was 10 (I used to do competitive gymnastics), I LOVE makeup (collecting it, applying it, everything!), and my favorite subjects in school are math and science(:
