Leslie, a 2009 graduate of Atlantic Shores, is another person who I first photographed as an athlete.

After discussing the various locations she wanted to go for her session, she decided on an urban, edgy background for her photos. We went to downtown Norfolk and our first stop was under the I-264 underpass, next to Harbor Park. She was working just as hard as I was as she walked up, in heels, directly under the highway, for some great shots at the top.

Before ending the session at Nauticus as the sun was going down, we shot around the downtown area. We found some really great locations that provided some interesting backgrounds. It was great working with Leslie and I liked that she had a bunch of ideas of her own for various shots and poses. She definitely made my job easier. Thanks Leslie!

It was an outstanding session that provided some great images. Enjoy the photos and don’t forget to watch the video slideshow at the bottom of the post.

Vera – Part II

Back in May, I posted several images from the session we had with Vera, a rising senior at Kempsville. It was a fun shoot and it was also different in that her boyfriend, Jaime, came along and we were able to get some photos of the two of them together.

When Jaime wasn’t in the photos, he helped out by filming some behind the scenes video footage for me. With my primitive editing skills, I was able to throw together a short video of a photo session.

In addition to the behind the scenes video, I’ve also posted the video slideshow that was missing from the original post. Enjoy the photos and feel free to leave a comment.

2009 Sand Soccer Championships

During the weekend of June 5-7, the 16th Annual North American Sand Soccer Championships were held in Virginia Beach, VA. There were close to 60 fields, stretching from 18th to 36th Street. From the international teams in the US Open/Pro-Am Division, to the hundreds of youth teams, there was exciting soccer everywhere.

I was able to capture the action from a few of the soccer games that were held on Saturday, June 6th. The players either play for their high schools and/or local club/travel teams. Enjoy the photos.

As it turns out, our senior session was the not the first time I had taken photos of Heather. A few weeks ago, I was taking action photos of the Greenbriar Christian soccer team. They defeated Nansemond-Suffolk Academy for their first TCIS win. Sometime after that we made arrangements to take her senior photos.

We went to downtown Norfolk for our photo session and just walked around looking for various backgrounds we liked. If we saw something that looked interesting or different, we stopped and took some pictures. When we headed over to Nauticus, it was packed with people as Churchland High School was having their prom next door. We managed and we got some amazing images. It was a fun shoot and Tyler and I had a great time getting to know Heather and her mom. Enjoy the photos and the music video.
